Product: HP Officejet Pro 6835
Operating System: macOS 10.12 Sierra

Printhead error message resulted in downloading new driver "OJ6830_1828A.dmg" but Apple won't allow it to be opened and gives the message HP Firmware Updater.app can't be opened because identity of developer can't be confirmed." followed by "Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the App Store and identified developers."  AND I've searched everywhere and cannot find a way or where to change MY security preferences related to this.

Hi,

You may right click (or CTRL + left Click) the HP Firmware Updater and then click on Open, that should bypass the restriction.

 

HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads 

 

However a Printhead failure requires servicing the printer, updating the printer firmware will not resolve such a failure.
