My P1005 printer was working fine and just started appearing offline the other day. I tried every troubleshooting mechanism such a restarting etc.. Eventually I felt I needed to re-install the driver. It appears on HP's driver page as well as this forum, that there aren't drivers or categories for Mac OS 13 Ventura.

Does HP have drivers for Ventura, particularly for P1005? I believe Ventura has been out for awhile, and as I say, everything worked fine and then just stopped working for no apparent reason.

I have tried installing the Mac OS 12 drivers and have tried every other angle of troubleshooting on my own. I tried using the HP Smart App, but it appears not to even recognize standard USB cables. It asks for an ethernet or wireless network connection to find the printer.

Thanks for any help and insight!

Hi @Jgk2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Laser jet P1005 installing in Mac OS13 Venture. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

Mac OS 12 is the latest driver for this printer
