I recently purchased an HP Deskjet 2820e and mistakenly selected Vietnam as my service location during setup, even though I live in New Zealand.

  • I’ve since updated both my HP account and printer’s region/country settings to New Zealand.

  • However, whenever I try to order supplies or register for Instant Ink, I’m redirected to Vietnamese websites or told that the service isn’t available in Vietnam.

I tried to:

  • Created multiple new HP accounts, but the system automatically sets the region to the US.

  • When I attempt to link my printer (registered in NZ), I receive an error stating that the account region (US) doesn’t match the printer’s location (NZ)—even after manually changing the account region to New Zealand.

Could you please advise how I can fully reset my printer’s service location or resolve this region mismatch so I can access Instant Ink and supplies in New Zealand?

Thank for your support

Hi @nlena211

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To resolve the region/service mismatch for your HP Deskjet 2820e printer, ensure that both your HP account and the printer settings reflect your actual location in New Zealand. Here are some steps that might help:

Update HP Account Region:

  • Sign in to your HP account at HP Smart website.
  • Verify and update your region/country settings to New Zealand.

Adjust Printer Settings:

  • Make sure your printer settings are updated to match your current location. You may need to reset the printer and set it up again using the correct regional settings.

Re-Enroll in Instant Ink:

  • If you are trying to enroll in HP Instant Ink, make sure your account reflects the correct region. You might need to cancel the current service and re-enroll using the New Zealand settings.

Contact Support:

  • If these steps do not resolve the issue, contacting HP's phone support team might be necessary. They can assist in ensuring that all account and printer settings are correctly configured. You can reach out to HP Support for more personalized help.

Clear Browser Cache:

  • Sometimes, cached data can redirect you to incorrect regional sites. Clear your browser cache and try accessing the HP website again.

By following these steps, you should be able to align your service region correctly and resolve issues with ordering supplies or using HP services. If the problem persists after these actions, HP support can provide additional assistance.
