Dear HP Support Team,

Greetings,

I recently purchased a new laptop, and I am having trouble connecting it to my HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135 printer. The printer is an older model, and my laptop does not automatically recognize it.

I have tried installing the drivers from your website, but I am still unable to get the printer to work properly. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in guiding me through the correct steps to install and connect the printer to my device.

Here are some details:

  • Printer model: HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135

  • Laptop system: [mention your operating system, e.g., Windows 11 Home, 64-bit]

Please let me know if you need any additional information to assist me further.

Thank you very much for your support.

Sincerely,
Ranya Safar

@RanyaSafar, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Connect Printer via USB

Make sure the USB cable is directly connected from the printer to the laptop (avoid using USB hubs).

Use a known working USB 2.0 port if possible.

2. Uninstall Previous Incomplete Driver (If Any)

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers or Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

If you see the 2135 listed, remove it.

Also, in Device Manager, look under “Print queues” or “Unknown devices,” and uninstall anything suspicious related to HP.

3. Download & Install Full Feature Software

Visit the official HP driver page:
HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

Select Windows 11 (64-bit) as your OS if not auto-detected.

Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver (NOT just the basic driver or Add Printer Wizard tool).

4. Restart the Printer and Laptop

Power off both printer and laptop.

Power on the printer first, then boot your laptop.

Plug in the USB cable again and wait ~30 seconds to see if it's detected.

5. Manually Add the Printer (if not auto-detected)

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner.

If Windows does not detect it automatically, click “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”

Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings,” and select the USB port (usually USB001 or similar).

Choose HP on the left, and look for HP DeskJet 2130 Series on the right.

6. Set as Default and Test

After successful installation, right-click the printer in Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Select “Set as default printer” and print a test page.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
