HP Envy 6120e All-in-One Printer

Attempting to set up new HP Envy 6100e series printer but keep going round in a loop with carriage jam error message. Have followed online instructions carefully with no success. Am wondering whether I have a faulty machine. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did they manage to resolve it?

Hi @Crowthorne, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A carriage jam error on the HP Envy 6120e All-in-One Printer typically indicates that the print carriage is stuck, obstructed, or not moving properly. Since you've already followed online instructions, here are some additional steps to try:

Check for Obstructions

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the cartridge access door and look inside for any paper, debris, or packaging material obstructing the carriage.
  • Manually move the carriage left and right to ensure it's not stuck.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

  • Remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them properly.
  • Make sure they click into place securely.

Check the Paper Path

  • Remove any paper from the input tray and inspect for jams.
  • Open the rear access door (if applicable) and look for jammed paper.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord.
  • Hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware (if possible)

  • If you can access the HP Smart app, check for firmware updates.
  • Install the latest updates and restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
