HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer

Recently my printer stopped automatic duplex printing when using my Windows 11 laptop. I have no problem with duplex printing from my phone. I removed the printer and reinstalled and this fixed the issue but my printer then reverts to letter instead of A4 - when I change this setting the manual issue returns. I have gone into device settings and and it was showing up as not installed so I clicked to update and it is now showing up as installed but automatic duplex printing still doesn't work. I have run the HP scan doctor and all drivers are up to date. Are there any fixes to this issue?

This doesn't solve my issue unfortunately - duplex printing works fine when printer is first installed but when I change the paper settings to A4 from letter the duplex comes up as uninstalled and when I click to reinstall it doesn't make any difference and the printer will only do manual two sided printing.

                 Hello @kl0c,

40.15.1230148.3 MBNov 23, 2021Download

The problem comes from the driver that is installed.

Download and install it by applying the uninstallation procedure, which I suggest.

Download the driver above.

Procédure:

I haven't written to turn on the printer yet, so it's off.

Uninstall the old driver in Control Panel, in "Programs and Features", then remove

all occurrences in "Program" and "X86 Program", in Control Panel, right click on your old printer (If it is still there, chances are that it is no longer there) "Remove", if it is present.

Restart the PC. At the end of the startup, connect the printer to the mains, connect a USB cord on the PC side, on the printer you will connect it during the installation ONLY when asked.

Start installing your printer, by right-clicking on the Setup. EXE of the downloaded driver, click ''installed'' en

as administrator'', let the installation take place, at the end, restart the PC.

To create a shortcut on the Windows desktop, open Control Panel, right-click on your

new printer, create shortcut, on the desktop, yes.

A new shortcut has been created on the Windows desktop.

Turn on your printer, print a test page, by clicking on the new shortcut created.

That's it, your printer is working again.

with this method, my printer has been working for 7 years without problems.

Thanks for your reply Bernard42  - I followed your suggestions and tried installing using a USB connection which worked fine. However when I tried to revert to a wireless connection the printer paper size had again defaulted to letter and when I changed this to A4 the auto-duplex mode stopped working again. My printer is now also showing as offline. I have no issues with this when using a Chromebook or my phone. I'm getting to the point where I think I need to purchase a different non-HP printer.

                                 Hello @kl0c,

Please perform the following procedure to restore your WI-FI connection: (This is what you should have done after installing via USB)

If this procedure does not work, you will have to uninstall the current driver and redo the procedure you did the first time, by installing the driver via USB, then afterwards, do this one.

I see that you are facing issues with connecting your HP All-In-One Printer to your wi-fi network.

Please follow the steps listed below to restore the printer to its network defaults and then reconnect it to the network.

Step 1: Restore the printer to its network defaults.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (X) from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Step 2: Reconnect the Printer to the network:
1. Press and hold the wireless button on the printer for more than least three seconds to start the WPS Push Button method.
2. Press the WPS button on your router.
NOTE: The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes while a wireless connection is established. If the printer connects successfully, the light next to the Wireless button glows steady blue.

I don't have an issue with connecting the printer via WiFi - it's that when I do connect via wifi I lose the ability to do auto duplex printing.
