Automatic Duplex Printing

I would like to print all documents with automatic duplex printing i.e. without the need to be near the printer and re-insert the sheet or sheets manually, from my new Lenovo laptop. When printing a pdf document HP Smart does this automatically, but when printing a word document (using MS Office Word 2007) and selecting Properties and 2 sided Duplex Printing in the Print dialogue box it will only do this manually. My wife has a similar but slightly older Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 and has the same problem. I have reinstalled the HP printing software on her laptop but this has not worked. There also seems to have been a change recently as my wife used to be able to print all documents in duplex mode automatically until recently.

Please let me know what has changed and what I can do to resolve this problem, bearing in mind that my IT capabilities are limited so if this involves removing old or  installing new software I would need detailed instructions, or a wizard that guides me through the process.

HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free tool for Windows to help resolve common printing and scanning problems, such as missing or corrupt print drivers, connectivity issues, firewall issues, scan error messages, printer offline, and print jobs stuck in the print queue.

Thank you for your response.

I have tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which has installed some new software, but this is still not performing automatic duplex printing.

The model name of my printer is HP Envy 5544 all in one printer.

I would appreciate any further advice you can provide.

I see that the Duplexing is working fine with the HP Smart app.

I suggest you update the MS Office Word 2007 and try to print, that should work.
