Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can set in Windows Fax/Scan where the default scan is from - and this is either the Flatbed Scanner or the Document Feeder and both work fine as long as the document to be scanned is in the selected position. (this is when selecting scan to computer on the printer's control panel)  So if I have selected flatbed as the default it always scans from there even if there is a document in the automatic feeder. If I select automatic feeder and there is no document there it just will not scan from the flatbed and tells me to put a document in the feeder.

 

What I want is what the 8715 did which was always scan from the Document Feeder when there was a document there, and only then scan from the flatbed when there was no document in the Document Feeder.

 

How can I fix this please?

 

Secondly in HPSmart it is showing my old printer an 8715 which I cannot remove. If I go to printer properties it takes a good few seconds and then all the details come up for the new printer (9019) and it is as thought the old one has been removed - perfect apart from the fact when you go back to the menu the old one is still there!  So basically there is no way of removing it that I have found.
