Hi @JAM415,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer's blue light is blinking after a factory reset, it typically indicates that the printer is either in the process of connecting to a network or experiencing a connectivity issue. Here’s what you can try next.

  • Check Printer Status: Ensure the printer is connected to a power source and turned on. Sometimes a blinking light could simply mean the printer is starting up.
  • Network Connection: Verify that the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. You may need to reconfigure the network settings through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
  • Wi-Fi Signal: Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router. A weak signal could cause connectivity issues.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for the printer. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues.
  • Restart Devices: Restart your printer, router, and computer. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Reset Network Settings: If network connectivity is the problem, you might need to reset the network settings on the printer and set it up again.
  • Check for Errors: Look for any error messages on the printer’s display panel or in the HP Smart app that might give more details about the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for responding.  I was able to reconnect my device with the network.  I do however, have another inquiry:  my device makes an awful churning noise when printing.  It would be necessary to have someone call me or have me send a video (from my iPhone) so that the noise can be heard.  Is that possible?  There is no option to allow the attachment of a video from my computer.  Thank you.

Hi @JAM415,

Thank you for your response,

The churning noise coming from your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer during printing could be caused by a few different factors. Here are some potential causes and solutions.

Paper Feed Issues:

  • Cause: Misaligned paper or debris in the paper path can cause grinding or churning sounds.
  • Solution: Remove the paper tray, inspect for jammed paper or debris, and clean the rollers gently using a lint-free cloth with water. Make sure the paper is correctly aligned in the tray.

Loose or Worn-Out Parts:

  • Cause: Internal components, such as gears or rollers, may be loose or worn out, leading to unusual noises.
  • Solution: Run a printer diagnostic test for an inspection if you suspect a mechanical issue.

Ink Cartridge Issues:

  • Cause: The noise could be related to the carriage moving improperly or the cartridges not seated correctly.
  • Solution: Open the printer and check the ink cartridges for proper placement. Clean the cartridge area if necessary.

Firmware/Software Glitch:

  • Cause: Sometimes, printer noise can be linked to a software issue, especially after updates.
  • Solution: Make sure the firmware is up to date. You can update your printer’s firmware via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Excessive Load on Motor:

  • Cause: If the printer is overloaded with tasks or continuously in use, the motor may struggle, leading to noise.
  • Solution: Allow the printer to rest if it's been heavily used. Turn it off and unplug it for a few minutes, then restart it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
