Tried everything I can think of to turn on Boarderless printing. Under File Print, under printer options, I have tried changing the paper type, paper quality tab ensured it is set to A4, plain paper. Says Selection Conflicts were encountered. Would you like them auto resolved? No I don't I am trying to print out a birthday card that needs to go to the edge of the page. Selecting yes puts a huge boarder on the right hand side as it turns off boarderless printing and then the card does not line up back to back. I have even removed the paper and ensured it is stacked properly. This seems to be an old issue and am wondering why it hasn't been sorted out.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

The borderless option is perhaps just not supported using your paper size, paper type, and / or possibly the file type (Word).

The hint is in the  User Guide

For those paper sizes, types, and file types that require margins...

Set all margins to 0 (zero) and ignore the complaints about data outside the print border.

This might - or might not - print borderless - the printer might just accept the input and then add a minimum border (white space).

and / or

Try changing the paper type to Brochure.

Will that work?

Maybe - if so, "done and done".

OR

Set all margins to the minimum supported by the printer on each edge (.1 inch)

Specs > Section Print margins

The document margins must match (or exceed) these margin settings in the portrait orientation.

No Joy?

Can't stand it?

What to do?

If you cannot get the Word document to do what you want,

Try / Consider something else...

For example,

Open the Word Document at 100% scale.

Open Page 1

Snip an image of the document from the view > Save the snipped bit as .jpg

Open Page 2

Snip an image of the content on that page > Save the snipped bit as .jpg (use a different file name)

Be Aware -- Create your Image file (Snip)

Watch out for the Aspect Ratio, that is, the shape of the image as compared to the shape of the paper you will be using.  The "shape" can be edited, if necessary.  Note that editing / cropping is less frustrating if the original image is at least close to the correct shape.

Example - HP Smart - Print Photo - A4 - Borderless

Open the first saved image file in software or an application.

Set Orientation to Portrait or Landscape

Set Paper Size = A4

Set Photo Size = Full Page

Select a Layout = One photo per page

Select Borderless printing = On

Set paper type = Brochure Matte (or similar) - Professional also works for many "card papers"

Output quality = Normal

Copies = 1

More Settings >

From the row of Shortcuts along the top ribbon,

Select Photo Printing - Borderless

Adjust the rest of the settings in the menu

Click OK to save and exit the "More Settings" menu

When ready > Print the image

After the paper is dry, gently remove the paper from the printer, flip and replace paper in tray

Repeat the print process - this time opening and printing the 'back" page.

Will that work?

Maybe.

I do suggest you test the idea using a nearly blank image file before wasting ink on a "try this" suggestion...
