HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I've invested 5-6 hours trying to print borderless on my new OfficeJet Pro 9730e. I should have tested that function the minute I bought the printer. But now two months later, I need to solve this problem and print with no margins on 11X17 paper 235 msg.

I tried so many configs:

- adjust printing menus in my software: Photoshop CS6 (jpg, tif, psd, psb, 100% or full page) or Affinity Studio or HP Smart (up to date version)

- compare results with menus on the printer, trays adjustements, paper sizes (A3 and tabloid) , type of paper (heavy or photo), microsoftware up to date

- printer spec in Windows to tabloid

What other suggestion would you have ? Thanks !

Drivers and Apps

The HP Smart Universal Printing Driver is a nice solution --

It auto-sets some of the underpinnings and leaves others for the user to sort.

-- For those reading --

  • HP Smart Universal Printing Driver is not same animal as the HP Smart application.
  • HP SUPD prevents conflicts by only allowing compatible settings to be selected together.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Consider --

  • → Load paper according to user guide
  • → Alert the printer to the paper size / type → EWS - Tray and Paper
  • → Check / Update the printer firmware
  • Windows?  Install the full driver printer software
  • Windows? → →  Adjust Printer Properties > Tab Advanced > Driver to use the HP driver and not the IPP / Microsoft driver

Details / Examples

Load Paper / Load Media

The paper can only be loaded in the printer "just so", that is, according to the instructions in the user guide.

Thank you for your help!

I was confident I had all the latest drivers after seing  such messages both on my printer panel (regarding the microsoftware) and on my computer (for HP Smart printing software). But I downloaded the zip file HP Smart Universal Printing Driver for Windows V4 (64-bit) on HP Web site and my problem seems all solved.

This solution and my notes below may help other users. I've learned a few things:

- only tray 1 of this printer accepts different thickness of papers, i.e. more heavy. There are only a limited selection of regular papers in tray 2.

- Direct printing from HP Smart does not accept psd and psb Photoshop files
