HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Using my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, I'd like to print #10 envelopes either borderless or with smaller margins in the return address area. I have not been able to change the default margin in Word, Publisher or with the printer settings. Any ideas?

Welcome to the HP User Community.

Not sure whether the older printer and its older print software will support Borderless or moving the margin (for return address) enough to make a difference to you - might be worth trying...

Borderless:  Do not use Word > Mailings > Envelopes

The Word envelope software follows certain structural limitations - borderless is not supported.

More information later in this message...

If it can be done, use Word > Mailings > Envelopes to move the Return address a little closer to the left edge.

"A little closer" is usually not "enough" but the simple method is worth checking...

Envelope Style - The Art of Creating Envelopes

If you are willing and clever (experienced Word user), you can perhaps edit the Style / field for the address.

This works, I've done it (years past) - it's a lot of work compared to just creating a manual envelope.

Tips.Net > Printing > Envelopes

Borderless Envelope

"Smaller Margin" Manual Envelope

This is where the printer software might - or might not - be able to do all that you want.

Printer Specifications for HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printers

Only certain paper sizes support Borderless AND the specs say that only MacOS supports Custom Paper Sizes.

If the envelope is not one of the sizes noted as supporting Borderless (section Paper Handling),

(and)

If the printer software - as stated - does not support Custom Paper Size forms in Windows,

(then)

You cannot print your envelope as borderless.

Specifications > Paper Handling > Print Margins

Windows > each side:  3.3 mm (0.13 inch)

It might be possible to create a Manual Envelope with smaller margins.

If your envelope is one of the stated supported sizes (see the Specs),

Load the envelope into the printer tray using the instructions in the printer,

Create a Word document in the envelope size

Set the Layout, including margins - set Custom margins for your document to the minimum allowed on a side (.13 inch)

Use Text Boxes to enter the Return and Delivery address.
