HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Within the past year, I was able to do borderless printing on my HP 7740 printer using regular paper and two sided printing. Recently, I've been getting a "printing conflict" error and have been unable to print borderless using any paper or even one- sided printing.  Has anyone had a similar issue or found a solution?

Places to (re)check

  • Full Driver printer software is installed and functional
  • Windows is not controlling the Default Printer
  • Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver = HP driver and not the Microsoft / IPP drivers

Printer Software

HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

 

Ask if you would like additional help to (re)install the printer software.

Default Printer

 

After the printer software is installed, check / manage the Default Printer

 

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

 

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down > Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

 

 

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

Printer Properties

 

Windows - Printer Properties - Driver Selection

 

Microsoft / IPP Class drivers do not provide full access to the printer features.

Install the Full Feature Software for the printer and then check Printer Properties

 

 Check that Printer Properties are correctly selecting the HP Driver.

 

Windows 10

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on Printer > Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

 

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Select Printer >

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

 

Top section

Driver:  Check that the HP driver is selected as opposed to the Microsoft / IPP class driver
