Right out of the box, the YELLOW ink isn't "communicating" so all setup STOPS until I purchase a new cartridge. Other than that, the HP site will not accept the serial number of this new printer so I can't get any support!  Is there any way to get to a human to get his sorted out?

Went to BestBuy to get a new yellow cartridge and, of course, I had to buy the entire set of 4.  I get home and discover the new yellow cartridge won't work because it's NOT A SETUP CARTRIDGE, which is what's bad!!  I am stuck and can't get HP support, mainly because when I enter my printer serial number as a "new device", I'm told it's INVALID.  I purchased the printer directly from HP and my "Orders" page shows the exact serial number I'm using as what was shipped to me.

This is total CRAP!!!  I moved to HP from Canon printers hoping for a better experience.  At this point I'm ready to return it, except I just spent $145 on ink I can't use!!

Is there ANY WAY to bypass the setup cartridge issue?  I did finally get an email to support... we'll see what they say.  Thanks for the rant time!

@EricSeaberg, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If the unit was initialized earlier and you're encountering this error after setup, please follow the steps outlined in the guide to resolve the issue.

Refer: HP Printers - A 'Use SETUP Cartridges' Error Displays | HP® Support.

If this is your first time setting up the unit, you can ignore the previous steps.

To bypass the cartridge setup, we’ll need to perform an OOBE reset. However, since these steps are specific to your printer model, I'll send you detailed instructions via private message to ensure we don't risk causing any issues with the printer.

Also, could you please share the serial number of your unit in a private message so I can assist you more effectively?

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

I was contacted by someone else at support and they're sending a new printer.  The other problem with your response is, when I tried to register the printer online, I was told the serial number wasn't correct... checked inside the printer and on the box... it's the correct serial number but not accepted.  I'm waiting to see what this new printer does when trying to register.
