Good evening All,

A friend has given me his HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e. I have done a factory reset but do not have the original setup cartridges, and so cannot complete the setup. Very annoying to be stuck in a loop.

Does someone know how to bypass this issue?

Thank you,

Alastair

Hi @AM202508,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out about your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e. I understand how frustrating it can be to get stuck at the setup stage.

For this model, the initial setup cartridges are mandatory to complete the first-time printer setup after a factory reset. These special cartridges are designed to calibrate the device during its very first use. Without them, the printer will normally remain in the setup loop.

If the original setup cartridges are no longer available, there is one possible alternative: in some cases, the printer may allow you to bypass the setup stage if you install a complete set of genuine HP standard (regular) ink cartridges. Please make sure they are genuine HP supplies (not refilled or third-party), as non-HP ink will not pass the initialization.

Let me know if you have the original cartridges. We can help with the bypass steps

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @VikramTheGreat,

Thank you very much for the message.

Unfortunately I do not have the initial setup cartridges that came with the printer.

I did purchase a set of genuine HP Standard regular ink cartridges but it does not seem to have helped and it still gets stuck at the setup stage, where it will add to the HP Smart App but then removes itself.

Grateful for any recommendations on how to proceed with setting up the printer if it is possible.

Thank you,

Alastair
