I have posted to the HP community in the past about a noisy printer (clanks while printing or calibrating)

And I have recently noticed another noise it makes.

It will randomly turn itself on and click once. Then, after about 3 seconds, there is a brief rolling noise before another click and it shuts off again.

The rolling noise lasts about a second. It sometimes lasts longer, though.

I was not able to get a recording of this, as it appears to happen randomly every hour or so.

It isn't so much as a problem as I'm curious as to what this noise is.

Would anyone on this community happen to know what this noise is?

Probably printer maintenance to prevent fuser rollers to be stuck together under pressure for a long period to prevent them from loose round shape.

The pressure roller in the fuser can be deformed, so printer turn is from time to time to keep it around, to avoid becoming D shaped.

OK, that does make sense. Sometimes it does it for a while though, and occasionally calibrates itself.

Also, on very rare occasion, it prints the demo page all by itself. I have no idea why.
