Is there a way to get a driver for HP Color LaserJet CP2025?

Or, do I have to trash the printer and buy a new one?

@jb9140,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Well, no need to trash your HP Color LaserJet CP2025 just yet -it can still work perfectly well with Windows 11!

Option 1: Use the HP Universal Print Driver (recommended):

HP's Universal Print Driver (UPD) supports the Color LaserJet CP2025 and works reliably on Windows 11.

  1. Go to the official HP page: HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.

  2. Download the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (v7.0.1 or later) – 64-bit version.

  3. Run the installer and choose:

    • Dynamic Mode if you connect the printer occasionally or via network, or

    • Traditional Mode if you'll always use the same printer.

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to let the installer detect and add your printer automatically.

Option 2: Manually install via Windows built-in driver:

If Windows doesn't detect the printer automatically:

  1. Connect the printer (USB or network).

  2. Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device → Add manually.

  3. Select "The printer that I want isn’t listed" → Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.

  4. Use an existing port (e.g., USB001) → Next.

  5. Under Manufacturer, choose HP, then select HP Color LaserJet CP2025.

    • If it’s not listed, click Windows Update to refresh the list (takes a few minutes).

Option 3: Use HP’s legacy driver package:

HP's last official CP2025 driver package (for Windows 10) also installs fine on Windows 11: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-color-laserjet-cp2025-printer-series/3673581.

After downloading, right-click the installer → Properties → Compatibility → select Windows 10 mode → Run as Administrator.

In Summary:

Your CP2025 is still fully usable -the HP Universal Print Driver is the best and most future-proof option for Windows 11.

Kind Regards,
