LaserJet CP5525dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Here I have a CP5525dn printer. I cannot get the admin userid password.

I have tried a factory reset, several times, but the webpage still does not allow me to change any settings. There is still a 'login' link the upper right. No userid/passwords seem to work. I have tried the normal ADMIN/admin admin/password/[blank] combinations, but nothing works.

The instructions (https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-enterprise-cp5525-printer-series/4073016/docu... to perform a cold reset do not seem to match my machine. During the startup I do not get the three leds illuminated, and pressing or holding the 'stop' button has no affect.

Can anyone please suggest how I can get this password?

It has old firmware (2131305_192066) which I will update. But, I cannot see this being the issue or going to give me a password.

So.... this often happens when you spend hours trying to solve the problem and post to a forum. You solve it!

I put a USB disk into the inboard USB socket to update the firmware. Then, on startup, I was able to see the lights! I pressed the stop button and was able to perform a cold reboot.

I now am able to access the full admin menu in the web config page without a password. Perfect!
