HP Officejet Pro 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I searched the internet, which led me to this group as others had the same question in the past. I have tried unplugging, etc., but the caller ID still does not show up on my printer display. I kinda doubt that this is a "Printer Software and Drivers" issue but didn't see a more applicable "board".  I have two laptops that connect wirelessly to this printer. The printer is directly connected to ethernet because the instructions said to connect it directly for the express purpose of caller ID. Caller ID works on my handset, but not on the printer like it used to from the beginning.  No, it's been quite a while, so I don't recall any specific upgrade or incident after which this functionality disappeared. And it's making me quite testy!!

Thank you for joining the HP Community

One thing that could be happening is that you do not have the number saved into your address book on the printer.

If a number is a private number, it will come up an unknown number on the printer no matter if you have caller id on your phone line or not.

Try with the different number and check if it works fine?

Meantime, I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using the below link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5367611/docum...

Restart the printer.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Thanks for your suggestions.

I guess my description of what's happening on the printer was not clear.  My display looks like this when any call comes in:

----------------------------

|   Incoming Call                     |

|                                                 |   < THIS LINE BLANK!  Nothing shows here where incoming all calls used to appear.

|   Auto Answer On               |

----------------------------

It has nothing to do with a specific number.  I DO get caller ID for the same incoming calls on another device in my network.

I think I also said that I've done the reset procedures, many of which were already in this forum.

In other words. there's no change in my situation.

However, were you the one who sent an email (it bears your name) saying I have a "private message" from you? It scared me! The email itself does not look legit when it says in red: Be alert for fraudulent messages.  This warning makes it sound fraudulent. So I could use some clarification if it's legitimately from HP.  Thanks.
