Hi @buster482,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear about the printing trouble with your OfficeJet Pro 8020 series. Let’s work together to get this sorted out.

  • Did you recently make any changes to your computer or network settings that might have affected the printer permissions?
  • Are you able to access the printer settings directly from the HP Smart app or your computer’s control panel?
  • When you try to print, do you receive a specific error message related to permissions, or does it show a different message?

Let's try these steps.

Remove and Reinstall the Printer

  • If the permissions are preventing access, try removing the printer from your device list first. Go to your computer’s Devices and Printers settings, right-click on the OfficeJet Pro 8020, and select Remove Device. Once removed, reinstall the printer using the HP Smart app or the Add Printer function in your computer settings.

Check Printer Permissions

  • Navigate to the printer properties in Devices and Printers. Under the Security tab, make sure your user account has “Manage Printers” and “Manage Documents” permissions. If not, add or modify these permissions.

Restart Print Spooler Service

  • In some cases, issues with the Print Spooler service can interfere with printer permissions. Type “Services” in the Windows search bar, find Print Spooler, and select Restart. Then, try printing again.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Outdated drivers can also cause issues with printer access. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet Pro 8020 series. Reinstall the drivers and restart your computer.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • If the permissions problem seems network-related, resetting the network settings on the printer might help. Go to the printer’s control panel, select Network Settings, and choose Restore Network Defaults. Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and check if this resolves the issue.

Also, update the firmware. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
