Microsoft Windows 11

Can not get printer,, HP Smart Tank 7600, to finish installation. I get to the spot where I insert the Print Heads and close the lid then nothing happens and the Printer indicates "The HP software is setting up your printer" but nothing happens. My Printer is registered but when I attempt to contact HP the Serial Number I enter is rejected by HP.

Hi @Robert1991,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Let's start by restarting both the printer and your computer.

Turn the printer off, unplug it for about 60 seconds, then reconnect it and restart your computer before trying the setup again.

If that doesn't work, perform a manual reset by unplugging the printer while it's powered on. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

Next, check for software or connection issues. Test a different USB port or Wi-Fi network, and temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software that might block the setup process. If you're using Windows, the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool can help identify and resolve any issues.

Finally, if the software setup fails, try using the printer’s touchscreen display. Navigate to Settings > Printer Setup > Wi-Fi Setup Wizard to manually connect the printer to your network.

Let me know if you need more help troubleshooting!
