I would like to scan in my moms childhood photos for reprinting ability and think that the .png file suits me best for lossless and smaller file size but that does not appear to be an option on my all-in-one .  Is there a way of updating the software to enable scanning as a .png file?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Try this standalone scan software:

HP Scan Extended

HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

On the scan shortcuts, choose Everyday scan, there is a PNG option.

Example:

Hope that helps!
