First, your Mac OS versions are WAY out of date.
Mac Sequoia 15.1 OS
HP Officejet Pro 8030 series; firmware up to date
I can print from the HP Smart app but not directly from applications such as Word or Acrobat. They don't go into queue--just just process and disappear.
I could not reinstall print driver from the System Settings--I had to use the Diagnose & Fix menu from Smart app.

Hi @TKIDEAS,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e is encountering a driver or communication issue when printing from applications like Word or Acrobat, but works fine with the HP Smart app. Here's a series of troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Queue
- Open the Printer Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the queue.
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer, and click Open Print Queue.
- Check if there are any pending jobs or errors in the queue. If there are, clear them and try printing again from Word or Acrobat.
2. Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Since you had difficulty reinstalling the driver from System Settings, try manually removing the printer and then reinstalling:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e printer by selecting it and clicking the minus button.
- Reboot your Mac and then reinstall the printer from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners by clicking the plus button and selecting the HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e.
3. Reset Printing System
- If reinstalling the printer doesn't help, try resetting the entire printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or control-click) on any printer in the list and select Reset printing system.
- Confirm the reset and then add the printer back using the plus button.
4. Update macOS and HP Software
- Ensure that macOS and all relevant software are up to date.
- Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > Software Update to check for macOS updates.
- If the HP printer software isn't fully updated, you may want to visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers and utilities for your printer model.
5. Check for Application-Specific Issues
- Sometimes, specific applications can have issues with printing. Try printing from different apps like Pages, TextEdit, or Safari to see if it's a broader issue.
- If the issue is specific to Word or Acrobat, check their print settings or reinstall the applications to ensure that there aren't any internal conflicts with the printer.
6. Check for Connectivity Issues
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network and that your Mac is on the same network.
- Try printing from another device or computer to rule out any network-related issues.
