Hello,

have a strange phenomenon: printer is connected to home WLAN and I can ping its IP address from the laptop. Can also start HP Smart on the laptop and it shows printer status/detais/etc... all fine. I can also SCAN from the HP Smart application.
However, printing fails. No matter whether via eprint or directly from Windows. The printer appears as 'offline' in the Windows control panel. But at the same time, the HP Smart shows the printer as online and can scan.

It is possible (in the same WLAN) to print directly from an Android mobile phone.

I suspect some network settings to be off but not sure. Yes, have turned off/on the WLAN router etc...

Any help is highly appreciated.

Cheers,

Tilman

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Try printing and check for any change, if the same remains try printing using the newly added print queue copy and check.

Shlomi

Hello,

thanks for the advice. However, it doe snot work. The HPPSdr utility installs and runs but then it can not connect to the printer. But when I start the HP Smart application, it can connect and shows the status. It can also scan. My Android pone can print.

It seems there is a connectivity issue from Windows 10 to the printer as also Windows shows the printer as 'offline'.

Somehow HP Smart must be using a different way of communicating to the printer than the Windoes printer driver.

So issue remains open and the Print and Scan Doctor utility is of no help: "Failed to communicate with your selected product"...

Any other advice?

Cheers,

Hello,

I have now moved to connecting a USB cable and installed the driver for the Envy 6232. That works. But it is a shame to be required to still connect via a USB cable in the year 2020. Especially as printing via Android phone works and as scanning from HP Smart works as well. Both indications that the network is not to blame.

Hi @TW21

Click the Wireless icon on the printer, what is the exact IP Address for the printer?

From your PC, right click the Start button and select Run, type CMD and press OK.

On the shown dialog type IPCONFIG and press enter.

Scroll a bit up and locate the IPv4 address of your PC, what is the exact address?

PC: 192.168.178.59

Printer: 192.168.178.61

I can ping the printer IP from the laptop. Laptop is on wired LAN, printer is WLAN. But connected to the same network device.

Cheers,

Tilman

Can you access the printer homepage by browsing to 192.168.178.61 from your PC?

Assuming it can be accessed, try setting a TCP/IP Port as following:

Click Start > Settings (gear icon) > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Select your printer and click on Manage,

Click on Printer Properties and open the Ports tab.

Click Add Port and select Standard TCP/IP

Follow the wizard by typing the printer's IP and confirm any prompt, then press Apply and Close to save the changes and try printing.

May you see any difference?
