HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer

I gave my mom the HP Envy Inspire 7955e All in One Printer and she doesn't have wifi at her house. She has broadband with a regular router. I have tried to download the driver software for HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only for her printer but during the setup, it still prompts me to connect to the internet with WIFI which she doesn't have. Does anyone know how I can get this setup for her as a printer that runs on a USB to print without wifi?

You are right -- this printer is brimming with Wi-Fi options.

The printer also supports Wireless Direct / Wi-Fi Direct.

 

Footnote:

Wireless performance is dependent upon physical environment and distance from the access point. Wireless operations are compatible with 2.4 and 5 GHz routers only; excludes wireless direct. Wireless direct may require driver or apps be installed and connected on wireless-enabled mobile device or PC.

 

 

OK - Perhaps worth a try to use Wi-Fi Direct to install the printer software.

 

Wi-Fi Direct uses the printer's Wireless Radio to connect to a Wireless capable device (computer, tablet, phone).

 

This type of setting won't connect the printer to the Internet.

 

What else?

 

Try using Wi-Fi Direct and install the HP Smart application on computer, tablet, phone.

HP App / HP Smart is an application that supports print and scan for PDF and Photos / Images.

 

The HP Smart application is available in the Microsoft Store

OR (essentially the same thing)

Open the Homepage / Support Website for your printer

Open Category Software & Drivers

Topic Install HP Smart app to complete setup and support

Any HP application you install should be sourced from “HP”.

What?  Fakes have been discovered on at least one Mobile App Store –

Check who is providing the application >> “HP Inc.”

NOTES: 

  • If you are running High Contrast or “Dark Mode” and the app will not open at all, try switching to None (for contrast) or “Light” for mode.  Once the application opens, set up the printer – Afterwards, try setting the mode back to your preferred setting.

 

  • Read the Terms of Use document to understand the conditions of using HP Smart products. 
  • Read HP printer setup (HP App) FAQ - including – What are the HP App requirements?
  • If using VPN >>Disconnect from Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.  Caveat:  Remember that Wi-Fi is sensitive to distance and obstacles - do not use Wireless if it cannot handle the task.
  • Enable Bluetooth for the initial setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.  Source: How to scan with an HP printer > FAQ > Why can't I connect my wireless printer or scan over the network?
  • HP Smart requires that you sign into the application using your HP Account credentials.
  • When working through a Browser to access HP App / HP Smart, be sure you have Cookies enabled.  If cookies are enabled and you are having trouble, clear Cache and Cookies.   And / Or … Try a different Browser – assign that Browser as the Default. (Note:  Chrome not working?  Use / Assign a different default Browser.)
  • Where possible, HP App / HP Smart benefits (likes) having the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed.  For example, full driver provides access to Shortcuts and Printing Preferences.
  • “Share” to email – Before using Share, add your sender email address to the New Outlook app.
