Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HI

Hi, I have a problem installing the driver for my printer. I have an HP LaserJet Pro 4003dn and an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182n. I used these printers before with my PC running Windows 10 64-bit. When we transferred to another office, we moved all the computers and printers. However, when I plugged my printer into my computer, it couldn't print a test page.

That's why I uninstalled and tried to reinstall the driver, but when I reinstalled it, the printer did not show up during installation, even though my computer showed other devices.

Then I tried to install my printer on a different computer so I could connect to a local printer. However, when I tried to connect to my printer, I encountered some errors, one of which was "No driver found."

I tried to manually locate and install a driver, but after locating a driver, another error showed: "Operation failed with error 0x000003f1."

What should I do?

Hi @walk16,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re facing a couple of issues with installing the printer drivers for both your HP LaserJet Pro 4003dn and HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182n. Here are some steps you can take to resolve these issues.

Check Printer Connections

  • Ensure that the printers are properly connected to the computer and powered on.
  • Try using different USB cables or ports to rule out any connection issues.

Remove Existing Drivers

  • Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Locate Printers: Expand the "Printers" or "Print queues" section.
  • Uninstall Drivers: Right-click on your printer and select "Uninstall device." Check the box to delete the driver software if prompted.

Run Windows Update

  • Sometimes, Windows Update can find and install the correct drivers automatically.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."

Download and Install the Latest Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your specific printer model.
  • Download the latest drivers for your operating system (Windows 10 64-bit).
  • Install the drivers using the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Use the HP Printer Setup & Software

  • HP provides a tool called HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can help diagnose and fix printer issues.
  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the HP website or the Microsoft Store.
  • Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically detect and fix issues with your printer setup.

Add the Printer Manually

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer.
  • Select “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”
  • Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings” and follow the prompts to manually install the printer driver.

Check for Compatibility Issues

  • Ensure that the printer drivers are compatible with Windows 10 64-bit.
  • If you’re using an older driver, it might not be fully compatible with your current version of Windows.

Address Specific Error Codes

  • For Error 0x000003f1, this error can be related to driver installation or corruption.
    • Try restarting your computer and reinstalling the drivers.
    • If the error persists, try the following:
      • Run the Printer Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters and select “Printer.”
      • Manually Reset the Print Spooler Service:
        • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following commands:

net stop spooler

del /Q /F %windir%\System32\spool\PRINTERS\*.*

net start spooler

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
