HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus
Other

Running Mac OS 11.1 Big Sur.  I cannot print wireless and during the HP setup the software can't find device.  The printer is connected to my router as I can print from a Windows machine, but not on my iMac (New last May and fairly specced out.)

Also I tried adding this printer using the OS System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, but the best match show the Officejet 8600, not the Pro 8600 plus?  Whether or not that makes a difference I don't know.  Any and ALL Help will be appreciated.

The HP Easy Start program was where the Error" 'Device could not be found',  was occurring, event with my printer was connected to the routers WiFi.   I found the problem this morning and addressed it.   In addition to my ISP modem with and internal WiFi, we have a high end ASUS router.  Somewhere along the line changes to our router settings made the printer invisible to my iMac and therefore lost connectivity.  I now have the printer WiFi connected to the IPS WiFi, instead of my router and all is well.  I reinstalled the HP software and everything is working as it should.

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Easy Start Utility:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/ASU/HP_Easy_St...

As soon as you open HP Easy Start, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and check if that may work.

If HP Easy Start cannot complete your printer installation, from the HP Easy Start menu select Preferences.
Click on HP Easy Start.log and the log folder will launch, please reply me back via a Private Message with the log content attached, please clarify if you may not able to access private messaging.

Thank you for your information and direction.  This is /was the HP program that I was installing / reinstalling when I received the Error message that the Printer / device could not be found.  I found the problem this morning.   In addition to my ISP modem and WiFi, we have a high end router.  Somewhere along the line changes to our router setting made the printer invisible to my iMac and therefore lost connectivity.  I now have it WiFi connected to the IPS WiFi instead of my route and all is well.  I reinstalled the HP software and everything is working as it should.

PS; I'll look into my ASUS router settings when time allows, because our Direct TV unit is having a similar connectivity problem with this router    Thank you again - ~ Dale
