I can connect my printer via USB to my computer, but I am unable to connect to my wireless network.  I have tried reinstalling the software and each time the connection to the wireless network fails.  I have also used the Scan Doctor and the installation also fails.  The printer shows it is connected to the wireless network via my router and the compputer and printer are on the same network and subnet.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this:

HP Officejet Pro 8700, 6900 series :Wireless: Setup Wizard

Thanks.

My HP 8720 printer indicates that I am connected to the wireless network.  I have even reset the printer to the factory defaults and it finds the wireless network and indicates it is connected.

The problem arise when I installed the driver software.  The Easy Install software finds the printer, but runs into a problem and indicates it is not able to connect.  This shows up at the end of the process with a red X indicated it has not suceeded.  If tried Retry'ing and it fails.  I have even deleted the printer from the system and uninstalled the driver software.  Rerunning the Easy Install still fails.

Hi,

Can you check the system settings following these steps :

1.  Go to Control Panel (Right Click on Start and select Control Panel)

2. Under Control Panel, View by Small Icons and select "Administrative Tools"

3. Select "Services"

4. Under Services, Scroll until you see "Function Discovery Provider Host"

5. Right Click and under Properties, ensure "Startup type" is set to "Automatic"

6.  Do the same (i.e. set to Automatic) for "Functional Discovery Resrouce Publication" (just below the "Function Discovery Provider Host")

7. Restart your Computer and try installing again.

Let us know if that works!

1. The Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication were set to manual.  I set them to automatic as indicated in your instruction.

2. Restarted the PC and left the USB cable connected to the printer.

3.  Used the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 desktop icon and clicked on Tools

4.  Device Setup started.

5.  Clicked on the link to Convert a USB conntected device to wireless

6.  Setup finds the wireless device (HP 8720)

7.  Setting up device on network

8.  Searching for device

9.  Installting network devices - run for a long time

Failed

Any other recommendations.

I still cannot connect my HP8720 printer to my wireless network.  In my reply, I documented the steps I have taken that you specifically suggested.

This printer is under warrantee.  Isn't that a technician that I can contact either via chat or phone?
