HP OfficeJet 3830
Chrome OS

During a recent electricity outage, my home network's name was changed back to its original name. I was able to reconnect the wifi connection for all my devices, except I can't get my Chromebook to reconnect to my printer (HP OfficeJet 3830). Prior to this, everything was working smoothly. I have gone through the set up to add the printer many times, but it won't pop up in the print window. Neither will the option to Print to PDF.

@ElayneM, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the Chromebook
  • Make sure the printer and the Chromebook are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the Chromebook should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

If the printer is not already connected to the network,

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

To know how to print from a Chromebook, refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
