I'm trying to connect my printer to my Mac, but I haven't found the right software. The HP app only offers WiFi connection options, but the printer model only connects via USB. My Mac does recognises the printer, and I've added it as the default printer, but it still doesn't print documents.
Can you assist?

Hi @junaid_dreamer,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the USB connection issue with your HP printer on a Mac:
Check Connections:
- Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the Mac.
- Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on your Mac.
Check Printer Status:
- Make sure your printer is turned on, and there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer's control panel.
Verify Printer is Added Correctly:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Ensure your printer appears in the list. If not, click the plus sign (+) to add it.
Install HP Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support page to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Update macOS:
- Make sure your Mac is running the latest version of macOS. Go to Apple menu > About This Mac > Software Update to check for updates.
Reset Printing System (If Necessary):
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the Printers list and select Reset printing system.
- This action will remove all printers. You will then need to add your printer again and download any necessary drivers.
Check for Print Queue Issues:
- Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer, and then click Open Print Queue.
- Remove any stalled print jobs or reset the printing system if necessary.
Test Another Device:
- Connect the printer to another device (if possible) to check whether the printer or the Mac is causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

HI @junaid_dreamer,
Thank you for your response.
HP Smart Tank 525 All-in-One Printer has not tested on MacOS Tahoe 26.2 till now.
Your feedback is noted and passed along. The team will soon test the printer on Tahoe 26.2 and release drivers once ready.

Ok, then use that "Smart Tank 500" driver to install your printer, that is correct, just try it.
- And then open your document and send to print.
