I bought the printer last month and set it up fine and downloaded the hp smart app to my phone. We had an issue with the printer today and I was told to delete the app. The printer works now but when I’m trying to reinstall the app it can’t locate the printer. I am the prompted to go to my Wi-Fi settings and click on hp smart printer. It then asks for a password which I’ve never had. I’ve tried my own Wi-Fi network password but that doesn’t work neither does my initial app log in password. I don’t understand this as I wasn’t asked for this on initial setup so I can’t download the app now. Any thoughts?

The password or PIN for an HP printer can be at one of the 3 locations

  1. On a sticker: Many HP printers have a sticker on the back, bottom, or inside the cartridge access area with the PIN and other default credentials.
  2. On the printer display: If your printer has a display, you can find the PIN under the wireless settings or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) settings.
  3. In the user manual: The PIN is often listed in the printer's user manual or documentation that came with the device.

Let me know what printer model as there might be a video or two to help configure the printer.
