HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer
macOS 26.0 Tahoe

Hello,

I can't find a driver for my HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer for macOS 26. I have already tried setting up the printer through the built-in macOS System Settings, but both the Generic PostScript Printer and Generic PCL Printer options do not allow me to print in colour (i.e., only in black and white). Could you please share the correct driver with me?

Hi @bennyrochwerg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you're seeking a driver for your HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer on macOS 26. Unfortunately, HP does not provide a dedicated driver for this printer model on macOS 26.

Use Built-in macOS Drivers:

When adding the printer in System Settings > Printers & Scanners, ensure you select the HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series from the list of available drivers.

Avoid using generic drivers like Generic PostScript Printer or Generic PCL Printer, as they may not support color printing.

Reset Printing System:

Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.

Re-add your printer and select the appropriate HP driver.

Check for Firmware Updates:

Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to see if there are any firmware updates available that might improve compatibility with newer macOS versions.

I hope this helps.

Thank you - I was able to transfer the driver files from my old MacBook Air to my new MacBook Air and the printer is working properly now on my new MacBook Air. I appreciate your input as well. HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series was not on the list of available drivers built-in to macOS 26. Hopefully HP will develop a driver for this printer for macOS 26 to make the process easier for others in the same situation.
