HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw
macOS 15.0 Sequoia

I have an HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw printer, which has worked very well with my MacBook Pro, until I installed Sequoia  Version 15.6.1.  Now I cannot get my printer to connect to my MacBook Pro.  Is there a driver that I can upload to my printer and computer to restore connectivity and functionality with my MacBook Pro?

Hi @CindyB19,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw, which worked perfectly before, suddenly stops connecting after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.6.1. You're not alone; many users are facing similar compatibility issues due to changes in macOS driver architecture.

Let’s get your printer working again. Recommended Steps to Restore Connectivity on macOS Sequoia 15.6.1

Step 1: Use HP Easy Start for macOS

HP now recommends using HP Easy Start, which automatically detects your printer and installs the latest compatible drivers and software.

👉 Download HP Easy Start for macOS HP Easy Start Mac | HP® Support

After downloading:

  1. Open the .zip file and run the HP Easy Start app.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect your printer and install the correct drivers.
  3. Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your MacBook Pro.

Step 2: Check for Updated Drivers

HP has a dedicated driver page for your printer model:

👉 HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

  • Select macOS 15 or macOS Sequoia if available.
  • If Sequoia isn’t listed, HP may still be working on full support. In that case, use AirPrint (see below).

Step 3: Use AirPrint as a Temporary Solution

macOS supports AirPrint, which allows printing without installing HP drivers.

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add a printer.
  3. Select your HP M283cdw from the list.
  4. Under “Use,” choose AirPrint.

This will restore basic printing functionality while HP finalizes Sequoia-compatible drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
