Ever since I have updated my computer to Windows 10, the computer will not "see" this HP 8150 printer. I have played around searching google every now and then over the past 6 months---the last time this AM---I have tried every suggestion and nothing works. Well....the only suggestion I haven't tried was the suggestion to use an old computer running a previous version of windows to connect with the printer---I'm not interested in having a separate "old" computer sitting around just for this printer. My windows SW is up to date. I have tried downloading files from HP. I have tried 3 different USB cables. Nothing I try works. When I select the "add a Printer" wizard in settings, the laptop will not see the printer at all---I see my 2 other HP wireless printers (they are newer). The HP 8150 itself works as I am able to print a test page from the printer itself. I hate to throw away a perfectly good printer, but right now its a "boat anchor" sitting on my desk. My feeling is this printer is not supported by Windows 10, and neither HP nor Microsoft care to address the problem given the age of this printer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
The printer is supported on Windows 10, drivers are available via Microsoft Update.
From your description, it seems as your computer doesn't detect the printer at all, lack of driver wouldn't prevent the PC from seeing the printer connected.
Have you tried replacing the USB with new cables or older used cables?
For testing purposes, please try connecting the printer to another PC and check if it sees it, to better understand where the problem relies on, it could be a failure of the USB port of the printer too.

Thank you very much for your reply, but..............I'll admit that I was a little frustrated at myself for not covering all bases before bugging you. So.....I dragged out my old Inspiron 1520 running Windows Vista. I plugged the USB cable into it and the HP 8150 showed up as available---I was able to print a test page from the old Dell. So, now I think the cable I have works as well as the printer. Next I plugged in several USB devices (usb flash drives, Ipod, Nikkon camera) into my newer XPS 13 running Windows 10---all seemed to work. So, as far as I can tell, the USB port on the XPS Laptop works, the USB cable works, the port on the printer works, and the printer itself works, but...........w2hen I try to add the printer to the XPS (Windows 10) using the add a printer wizard, the HP 8150 still doesn't even show up

Let's try the following to get some better understanding:
Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the Windows 10 PC.
Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller and the Other Devices categories.
May you see your printer name added or any other instance added within these categories when plugging the printer to the PC?

Yes, I did in fact see the 8100 series under the USB and other categories. I also went into "add a printer" followed by "The printer I want isn't listed" then local port, I selected usb. I vaguely recall getting this far once before. Now the printer does show up as an available printer, but I can't print anything. It appears the command is accepted, but nothing prints and nothing shows as sitting in the printer queue. When I select Run Troubleshooting everything appears ok.
