Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello community! I recently purchased new HP Color LaserJet CP5225 and of course I also got a installation CD with it. When the installation starts, firstly it checks if the printer is compatible with system. When it reaches 5% it stops and it says: "This software cannot be installed using the "Run as..." command. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.

Required Action: Click Cancel to exit this software installation. Log off and then log on as a user with a administrator privileges. If there is no system administrator, have the primary user of this computer install the software. Restart the installation by removing and re-inserting this installation CD."

I am the only user of my computer and I have always been. I also installed the drivers form the official HP website and nothing. It installs the printer with the name "HP Color LaserJet CP5220 Series PCL 6" but it doesn't work, it doesn't even print the test page when the installation is over. What should I do?

Download and install the HP Universal Printer Driver (UPD). The 5225 is listed as fully supported. It sounds like the driver that installed is a Windows embedded driver and they are poor at best.

I tried that, also didn't work

Are you connecting USB or network? I have always found this printer to be finicky at best and as a very old printer (going on 10 years from initial release) the firmware has not been updated much. Yes it is the lowest cost color A3 laser printer you can buy, but it can be tricky to get going.

USB

I have had much better success with network connection and a driver configured to use a TCP/IP port.

You can find drivers here

https://us.driverscollection.com/?H=Color%20LaserJet%20Professional%20CP5225&By=HP

You listed the 32 bit version of windows 10.  Is that correct?

If it is then be sure to get the 32bit software and do not download any apps that do the download for you.   Do not download "driver support"

get only upd-ps-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe

I think this is the link but is is only good for 5 hours.

https://us.driverscollection.com/s/333K7K

I looked in that "upd-ps" file and there is an application named "install.exe"

when you click on it you must right click and select "run as administrator"

Post back here if you have more problems.

[edit] I posted this without looking at what @Repairatrooper wrote.  The above driver is basically windows 7 and the universal print driver should have worked.  Since it did not possibly you need to uninstall whatever was left when you downloaded those older drivers you found.

Also I mistakenly listed the 64 bit driver.  You need to find the 32bit one at that site.
