I can't believe this. After acquiring my snazzy new Macbook, I had to abandon my faithful old Canon printer because Canon was not updating the drivers. So I switched to HP, on the grounds that AirPrint meant I need not worry about updating drivers.
My first week with the HP6400 has been very satisfactory. And then, I had to print an official document in colour.
It is not printing in colour! There is no option to print in colour (unlike on why phone). In the end I had to transfer the document to my iPhone to print in colour!
Either HP solves the problem or I want my money back. I see this was first posted as a problem nine months ago. HP should make it clear on its site if it is unable to make its printers work with modern Macs.

I have just found the answer from an even earlier message, in February last year:
"
Just solved it, I removed and added the printer again in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (so not only in HP Smart).
"
I hope this helps other frustrated Mac users.
By the way, why not update the list of Mac systems, so this is not marked as OS unknown?
I have to say also , I have found the app HPSmart a bit problematic. In order to scan, for example, I have had to download HP Easy Scan rather than scan from HPSmart.)
