I've just purchased an HP ENVY 6032e All in one printer. I set it up using HP Smart app on my MacBook Pro, and replaced my old printer on the software and updated my subscription to HP Instant to my printer. All seemed well until I tried to print in colour from my MacBook Pro, it would only print in black and white with no option to print in colour in print dialogue boxes. It prints fine in colour from my iPhone and iPad. Anyone explanations or fixes please?

Hi @Shrewsburywolf,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6032e printer is printing in color from your iPhone and iPad but not from your MacBook Pro, there are a few things you can check and steps you can take to troubleshoot.
Check Printer Settings on MacBook Pro:
- Open the document you want to print and go to File > Print.
- In the print dialog box, make sure you have selected your HP ENVY 6032e printer.
- Click on the "Show Details" button (if available) to expand the print options.
- Look for a setting that specifies color or grayscale printing. Ensure that "Color" or "Auto" (for color) is selected instead of "Black & White" or "Grayscale".
Printer Driver and Software Update:
- Ensure that your MacBook Pro has the latest printer driver installed for the HP ENVY 6032e. Sometimes, updating macOS or the HP Smart app can resolve compatibility issues.
- Open the App Store on your MacBook Pro and check for any updates related to HP Smart or printer drivers.
Printer Preferences:
- Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP ENVY 6032e printer from the list on the left.
- Click on the "Options & Supplies" button.
- Check the settings under the "Driver" or "Options" tab to confirm that color printing is enabled and selected as the default.
Reset Printing System:
- Sometimes resetting the printing system on macOS can help resolve persistent printing issues.
- Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left side and choose "Reset printing system..."
- Confirm the reset and then re-add your HP ENVY 6032e printer using the HP Smart app.
Reinstall HP Smart App:
- If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your MacBook Pro.
- Download the latest version from the HP website or the App Store and set up your printer again.
Check Printer Hardware:
- Ensure that there are no issues with the printer itself, such as low ink levels or paper jams, that could be affecting color printing.
By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue of your HP ENVY 6032e printer not printing in color from your MacBook Pro.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden
Thanks doe your reply, I did make sure I had correct drivers on my MacBook Pro and did several other things and it now prints in colours. Not sure what fixed it but I’m sure if I’d followed your advice it would have done the trick.
Thanks again, Terry
