Hi, I have an HP Desk Jet 1000. It printed fine until I got a new laptop (MacBook Pro using Mac OS Ventura 13). Printer installed without a hitch. But it does not print. I send a job to the printer; the printer behaves as if printing, but there is no output. HP won't talk to me. I gave the serial number and got rerouted back to the bit, which said my only option is the support community.

Thank you. I did all that before I wrote in the community, but those are all helpful steps. I know, because I took them. BUT see the following: I succeeded in speaking to someone at HP (always a challenge) and he was able to determine that my old HP Deskjet is NOT. compatible with Mac OS 11 or higher. I am now running MAC OS 13. The ONLY solution is to purchase a new printer that is compatible with the latest operating systems (OS 11, 12 and 13). HP no longer has drivers for this old printer, which still works fine on another device that runs OS-10. Thanks for your help.

Hi @JuliaNYC1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 1000 printer not producing any output even though it appears to be processing the print job. This could be caused by a variety of factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.
Check Ink Levels: Make sure that the printer has sufficient ink or toner. If the ink levels are too low, it might be preventing the printer from producing output.
Check Paper: Ensure that there is paper loaded in the printer's paper tray and that it's loaded correctly.
Printer Queue: Sometimes print jobs can get stuck in the print queue. Open the print queue on your Mac and check if there are any pending jobs. If there are, try deleting them and sending a new print job.
Printer Drivers: While you mentioned that the printer installed without a hitch, it's still worth double-checking if you have the correct and up-to-date printer drivers for your specific printer model and macOS version. You might want to visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers compatible with macOS Ventura 13.
Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer back on and try printing again.
Restart Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart of your MacBook can help refresh the system and establish a better connection with the printer.
Check Connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your MacBook. If you're using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the laptop. If you're using a wireless connection, check if both devices are on the same network.
Test with Another Device: If possible, try connecting your printer to another computer or device to see if it prints correctly. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your MacBook or if it's a printer-related problem.
Check for Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware might resolve compatibility issues.
Reset Printing System: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printing system on your MacBook. This will remove all printers and printing preferences, so make sure you have the necessary setup information for your printer before doing this.
To reset the printing system:
- Open "System Preferences" on your MacBook.
- Click on "Printers & Scanners."
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list on the left-hand side and select "Reset printing system."
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
