HP Ink Advantage K109a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just upgraded my workstation to Windows 10 from Windows 7, which was working fine with my Ink Advantage K109a.

After the update, the printer disappeared from the Devices and Printers.

Installing from the downloaded software from the HP website results in a reboot loop caused by the installer.

Windows' Add Printer doesn't see the printer.

Installing manually through the same using USB001 port still results in an error.

Attempted the HP Print and Scan doctor. It was able to install the driver but the printer still doesn't show up in the list of printers. It end with a fatal error from the hpzsetup.exe software.

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

Dear Sandytechy,

Thank you for the response.

I've done what you mentioned and  removed all HP drivers from the printui.exe as well as rebooting the printers as outlined in another thread.

I've also brought in my HP Inkjet 1015 as well to try and make it work with my desktop.

Both printers encountered errors during their installation of their respective full feature drivers.  You'll find the error messages attached below.1015 error1015 errork109a errork109a errork109a error logk109a error log

It's worth noting that both printers work with my HP Spectre just fine.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix this issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
