HP LaserJet Pro 4001n Printer

When I try to use the EWS it won’t let me connect because the set up is incomplete. I can’t complete the set up because I can’t get a pairing code. I can’t get a pairing code unless I turn off web services……

Hi @CMylett,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're in a bit of a loop with your HP LaserJet Pro 4001n printer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Reset the Network Settings: This might help you start fresh and allow you to access the EWS (Embedded Web Server). To do this:

  • On the printer control panel, go to the Setup menu.
  • Navigate to Network > Network Reset or Restore Network Settings and confirm.

Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes this can help clear temporary issues.

Use HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app installed on your smartphone or computer, try using it to manage the printer settings. It might allow you to turn off web services without needing to access the EWS directly.

Firmware Update: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can typically do this through the HP Smart app or by connecting the printer to your computer via USB and using the HP Utility software.

Factory Reset the Printer: If nothing else works, you may consider performing a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings, including network configurations:

  • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm the action, but be aware this will reset everything.

Accessing EWS with IP Address: If you can find your printer's IP address (usually available in the printer settings), you can try accessing the EWS directly by entering the IP address into a web browser (e.g., http://192.168.1.x).

After trying these steps, you should hopefully be able to turn off the web services or at least access the necessary settings to complete the setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
