I set up an HP OfficeJet 9010e today for my customer. He's asking if the default setting for copying can be changed to black. Every time he attempted a copy, it defaulted to color. Obviously he can change it to black but 90+% of the copying he does is black, not color.
I looked through the settings on the printer and didn't see any place to change that. Does anyone know if the default can be changed and, if so, where ... on the printer or in the HP Smart App?
Thanks.

Hi @dvdrttr14,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, the default settings for copying on an HP OfficeJet 9010e can usually be changed. These settings allow you to customize aspects like paper size, quality, color settings, and more for the copied documents. Here's a general guideline on how to change the default copying settings.
- Access the Copy Menu: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Copy" menu or option. This might involve tapping on the "Copy" button or selecting "Copy" from the main menu.
- Change Settings: Once you're in the Copy menu, you'll likely see a set of default settings such as paper size, number of copies, quality, color settings, etc. You might be able to adjust these settings using the printer's touchscreen or buttons.
- Find Default Settings Option: Look for an option like "Default Settings," "Default Copy Settings," or something similar. This is where you'll be able to change the default settings for copying.
- Adjust Settings: Within the "Default Settings" menu, you should be able to adjust various settings according to your preferences. This might include choosing the paper size, adjusting the color settings, setting the default number of copies, and more.
- Save Changes: After making the desired changes, look for an option to save these settings as the new default. This might involve confirming your changes and confirming that you want to update the default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
