I just had a problem when my MacBook Pro updated to 12.6.3 (Monterey).  Although I've downloaded the printer driver for Mac OS12, I still receive an error message when trying to print:  "You Need Additional Software to Print this Document, Please Contact Printer Manufacturer"

Hi @philosopher0908,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are having trouble printing from your Mac running on OS Monterey 12.6.3 to your HP LaserJet 1606DN printer, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Here are a few things to try:

  • Check Printer Connection: Ensure that the printer is connected to your computer and turned on. If it is connected via a USB cable, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer.
  • Check Printer Status: Check to see if the printer is showing as "online" in your Mac's Printers & Scanners preferences. If it is not, try resetting the printer and restarting your Mac.
  • Install Printer Driver: Make sure you have the correct printer driver installed for your HP LaserJet 1606DN. You can download the driver from the HP website or use the macOS built-in driver.
  • Reset Printing System: If the above steps do not work, you may need to reset your printing system. This will remove all printers and scanners from your Mac and reset the printing system to its default settings. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the printer, and select "Reset printing system."
  • Update Software: Make sure your Mac and printer are both running the latest software updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
