Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I try to use the Embedded Web Server I get this message "A custom printer password has been set".
I have never set such a password, so I tried using the PIN number, but it was rejected.

How can I get around this?

I'm beginning to regret buying the Deskjet 2720E.
Why can't HP make all the settings options available in HP Smart rather that hiding them in a web interface?
After my many attempts at resetting it the ****ing device now can't find my WiFi!  😡

Going backward instead of forward.

Switched to USB connection.

NOTE: For your security, some settings in the EWS are password-protected. If prompted for a password,
enter the PIN from the label on the inside of your printer’s cartridge access door

 

In case you need to configure the printer --->

If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing.



Reset the 2720

  • Disconnect the power cable while the printer is on.
  • Press and hold the power button and cancel button together and plug the power cable simultaneously.
  • Continue to hold for 20 seconds and let go the buttons and allow the printer to initialize

Let me know if you have a flex system (Wi-Fi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated when using the router type of connection.

Tried the "Reset 2720" actions.

Still get the same error message and PIN is rejected.
