After uninstalling Print & Scan Doctor, I am unable to access the Document Properties menu when I want to print. I am using a LaserJet 100 Color MFP M175nw, Serial Number [Removed Sn], Product Number CE866A. It is discontinued, and HP does not recognize it on their web sites. Is there any way to get the HP Document Properties menu back?

Hi @billflyer,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you’re unable to access the HP Document Properties menu after uninstalling HP Print & Scan Doctor on your HP LaserJet 100 Color MFP M175nw (CE866A). Since this printer model is discontinued, some support resources may not be readily available, but you can try the following steps:

1. Reinstall the Full Feature Software/Driver

Go to the HP Support Drivers page and search manually for LaserJet 100 Color MFP M175nw.

Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver (not just the basic driver).

This usually restores the HP Document Properties functionality.

2. Use Windows Built-in Drivers

If HP’s website doesn’t provide the drivers anymore, you can use Windows Update drivers:

Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners → Add a printer or scanner.

Select your printer and let Windows fetch drivers automatically.

3. Access Printer Preferences via Control Panel

Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.

Right-click your HP printer → Printing Preferences.

This may provide you with similar options to the old HP Document Properties menu.

4. Compatibility Mode (if needed)

If you downloaded older drivers, right-click the installer → Properties → Compatibility → run in Windows 7/8 mode.

If none of these steps restore the HP menu, the best alternative is to rely on Windows printing preferences since HP has discontinued direct software support for this model.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Kuori_Kenshi, but none of these work.  1. Following installation I get "A fatal error occurred preventing product use." The only option is "Cancel."  2. This allows me to print, but does not give me the HP Document Properties menu I want.  3. Same as #2.  4. This sends me to the MS App store to download HP Smart.

I suspect the problem is the Windows Protected Print Mode feature. I may try turning it off, after I do some more research.

UPDATE: I turned off Windows Protected Print Mode and successfully installed HP Full Solution Software/Driver. I now have my old HP Document Properties menu back!
