Hi, My only problem is that I can't access HP Solution Centre.
The history of the problem - I recently had a new WiFi hub, but unfortunately I messed up the printer connection to the new hub and decided to reinstall the printer software and start from scratch. I uninstalled the HP software and attemted to re-install from my installation disc. The disc would not give me the install option.
I decided to download the driver software from the HP website and reinstall from that. This gave me the install option and everything appeared to work except that I cannot access HP Solution Centre. The program appears in my program list but when I attempt to launch nothing happens. I have no problem with printing.
I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and this indicated a problem with the Scan button on the printer - I've never before attempted to use this but it doesn't appear to work now. I have always used HP Solution Centre for scanning. The Doctor indicated no problem with HP Solution Centre! I ran a test scan from the Doctor and this worked perfectly.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks in anticipation.
David

Hi @DCH43,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that HP solution center is not working on your computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Please follow the below steps to resolve this issue.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the PC
14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on screen instructions.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi, Many thanks for your response.
Firstly I owe you an apology, which I will explain below -
I had already attempted your items 1-5 many times, but here's the first part of my apology - I omitted to mention in my original post that the Uninstall program stops working part way through, although it does appear to remove the printer software (or maybe it doesn't!).
At your item 9 HP Printer Driver was not there so I merely clicked OK at item 11.
I downloaded the driver via your link and saw that it was exactly the same .exe file as I had been trying previously. However, Windows 10 would not let me run the newly downloaded file - the only option it gave me in the warning window was "Don't run" - no "Run anyway" option.
I then ran the previously downloaded version which ran. I used the WiFi link to the printer which I have always used, rather than the USB. I will try the USB later if you think it's worth trying. After installation printing worked ok, but now for the second part of my apology -
At the end of process I got an error message for HP Solution Centre - "Parsing error in file C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\HP\DigitalImaging\bin\hpqscloc\1033.xml". Again, aplogies for not referring to this earlier as I realise it is probaby quite significant. I hope it means something to you.
Thanks
David

Hi,
Many thanks again, but nothing in that document helps. What I need is an answer to the error message for HP Solution Centre as referred to in my previous post.
I have been using HP Solution Centre with this printer for many years - something has gone wrong to cause this error. That's what I need help with.
Thanks
David

I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check whether you are able to scan using the HP Scan and capture App.

Hi, HP Scan and Capture works OK and I can easily use this in place of HP Solution Centre for my scanning.
I'm stll left with the following queries -
- Why installng the printer drivers does not install HP Solution Centre - ref. error message
- Why my 2 installation discs only give me an "Exit" option
If you feel that you can't offer answers to these queries then let me know and I'll accept HP Scan and Capture as a solution and give you a Thumbs Up.
Many thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Hi David, you're most welcome.
As @The_Fossette is out of the office today, I'm replying to you. I truly appreciate your efforts.
I did some research and found that the HP Solution Center is part of the full featured drivers for the printer. The HP Solution Center was mostly used in older version of the drivers that were used for Win Vista, Win7, etc.
The HP Solution Center is not a part of the drivers for most newer drivers that are developed for Win10. After you install the full featured printer drivers for Win10, there should be a "Printer Assistant" icon on the desktop screen. This acts like the HP Solution Center.
Sounds like the software in the installation disks is corrupt therefore it is offering only an exit option. It is better to download and install the drivers from the HP website (www.123.hp.com) when a need a arises.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. Take care! 🙂
