my new Windows 11 PC won't connect to my all in one printer C5180.

It is connected through USB and appears in device management as 'imaging device' with a default MS driver

But add new printer but says device driver not available and it doesn't show as listed printer in print options.

HP website seems to be saying the Windows 11 driver is sufficient but elsewhere it says not compatible.

other solutions give a link to drivers, but the links no longer work.

Any solutions?

Hi @ukbrian,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The HP Photosmart C5180 is an older model printer, and compatibility with newer operating systems, such as Windows 11, can sometimes present challenges. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you connect your printer to Windows 11:

USB Connection and Detection:

  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected between your printer and PC.
  • Confirm that your printer is powered on and in a ready state.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open "Device Manager" on your PC.
  • Look for the printer under "Imaging Devices" or "Other Devices."
  • If it's listed, try updating the driver by:
    • Right-clicking the device, selecting "Update driver."
    • Choosing "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 is updated, as Microsoft periodically releases updates that might include drivers for older devices.

Manual Driver Installation:

  • Visit Official HP® Support to check if an updated driver is available for download for your specific printer model.
  • If available, download and install the driver manually.

Using HP App:

Take care and have an amazing day!
