Cannot download HP Smart for Mac desktop. GAH!

Cannot download HP Smart for Mac desktop. Appstore just gives me download cloud icon, then the spinning dial, then nada. HELP? I've spent an hour trying to make this work; established my HP account, everything I can think of. My iPhone doesn't want to upgrade to the needed software level, so I've got to make this work on my desktop.

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions -

1. Uninstall HP Smart 
2. Try updating mac/ios and printer firmware
3. Install HP Smart from the APP store 
   Try updating mac and printer firmware
    
   To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 
    To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

 If the issue persists, 

 Download HP Easy Start and install the printer.

• Download HP Easy Start (under the driver tab )and follow the on-screen to complete the installation. 

You may also add the AirPrint printer to the Mac printer queue

Confirm you are using Air Print by adding the printer in System Preferences.

1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.
   • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for Air Print. Click the printer name, click the minus sign "-" to delete the printer, click the plus sign "+"click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
   • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
3. Confirm Air Print or Secure Air Print displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.
4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print

Hi,

If you are having an issue downloading from the Mac App Store it would most likely be a network related issue. Please try power cycling your modem, router, and computer. If you still cannot download from the Mac App Store please contact your ISP or Apple support.

Nope, can't be that, I've downloaded other things with no problem. Thinking I'm gonna give this puppy away. I got it free in my neighborhood, and now I think I know why. Thank you anyway.
