I purchased a printer, however I cannot get the HP app to download on to my macbook. It's very frustrating.

I've upgraded my iOS, Restarted, ensured VPNs are not open.. and it still will not download. Customer service is not helpful for this issue. Can anyone help?

Hi @Smalone,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble downloading the HP app on your MacBook, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check System Compatibility:
  2. App Store Access:
    • Ensure you're accessing the App Store directly on your MacBook and not through a browser link. Open the App Store from your Dock or search for it using Spotlight (Command + Space, then type "App Store").
    • Search for "HP App" directly in the App Store search bar.

  3. Clear App Store Cache:
    • Sometimes clearing the App Store cache can help:
      • Open the "Terminal" application (found in Applications > Utilities).
      • Type the following command and press Enter: killall -KILL softwareupdated
      • This will clear any App Store cache and refresh the app listings.

  4. Ensure Sufficient Space:
    • Verify that enough storage space is available on your MacBook to download new apps.

  5. Network Reset:
    • Try resetting your network settings. Turn off your Wi-Fi, wait a moment, and turn it back on.
    • Try connecting to a different network, if possible, to see if the issue persists.

  6. Reboot Your Mac:
    • A simple restart of your Mac can resolve temporary glitches that might be preventing the download.

  7. Security & Privacy Settings Check:
    • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy, and ensure app downloads from the App Store and identified developers are allowed.

If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, consider reaching out to HP support online for further assistance, as they might be able to provide a specific resolution for this issue. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart for macOS directly from Official HP® Support.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
