My printer seems to not be  able to "see" that it's connected to my PC. I keep getting error messages that no communication is present. It will print if I close out the error message by Xing it out, so I know it is actually communicating on some level. The  Scan Doc loads and unloads and reloads the "Correct" drivers, yet never seems to fix the issue.

Hi,

Have you downloaded and installed the FULL feature software?  If not, can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

The following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

Once you have successfuly installed wirelessly, can you  use a TCP/IP port:

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Let us know if that works

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this Uninstaller from Microsoft and then reinstall the FULL feature software again?

Still no go....Really hate this thing.....gonna go get an Epson. Used HP printers for years, and have had more issues with this one than all the others put together. Gave me that same "No communication" then printed the document when I Xed out. Won't scan or fax.

This unit does operate if I hardwire it with a USB porinter cord.

Double post...

Scan works hardwired and sends into Documents. Fax works from the panel on the printer.

My issues seem to be related to wireless communication.....or the lack thereof...

You da man!!!

Apparently, I needed to determine where my issue was. It seems once I gave you enough info, you were able to give me what fixed it.

Thank you.....more than you know.

I know just enough to get extremely frustrated when something basic of which I'm unfamiliar hangs me up.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't the Scan Doc, or the HP support person that I had spoken with weeks ago, suggest this as something to check? I had expressed concerns that were directly related to communication. Or did they, and I simply didn't understand that was where to look?

The Peter Principle strikes again! LOL!!! I have risen to my level of incompetence!

I was having exact same problem. Found a work around using scan to email. Good Luck
