Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

I have the HP Smart app from the Microsoft store and have followed the instructions to connect my printer to the laptop and it says printer not detected. I connected the printer to the router and the laptop by wires as it is not a wireless printer.

The printer is a HP Photosmart C6200 series and the laptop a HP cf-3512sa (windows 10s).  I can download the drivers but it will not install unless I come out of s mode which I do not want to do. Is there another way of connecting my laptop to this printer please? If the smart app will not do it will it be able to do so in the future or is this never going to happen?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

@mountjoy

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
